Kruger's Farm

Last year we headed out to Hillsboro to Rolloff Farm for some pumpkin fun. This year we thought we would try something new and we went to Kruger's Farm on Sauvie Island. Sauvie Island is a half hour southwest of our home and it is a beautiful farm community on an island. We love all the bridges we get to cross when we drive around our area and we were excited to go across a new bridge to get to Sauvie Island; it was really cool.

Well, we started our outing by going to the corn maze and boy was it MUDDY. Of course I made sure everyone else had shoes on that could get muddy but I didn't think about myself. The corn maze was really fun and an adventure as we kept from slipping; Audrey commented that it was like "ice skating on mud".

Next we got on the hay ride that was pulled by a tractor; this was the highlight for Adalyn. The hay ride took us out to the pumpkin patch and we had a fun time picking out a boy and girl pumpkin. Lastly, we headed over to eat some yummy food. We had some yummy roasted corn and delicious carameled apples. We had a wonderful time and even got some blue skies and sunshine.

Cute and holding hands.

The muddy feet; needless to say all the kids drove home in their underwear.

Enjoying our caramel apples. The caramel was so thick and delicious.

A fun ride on Daddy.

The Pink Blob

Adayn and I had just gotten back from taking Audrey to preschool and she ran back to her room to play. All of the sudden I realized that it had gotten too quiet and I thought I better check on Adalyn and the trouble she might be getting into. As I went down the hall there was a big pink blob on the floor. I realized as I got closer that it was Adalyn hiding in her blanket. I think she was waiting for me to come down the hall to find her wrapped in her blanket but in the mean time she fell asleep. The cute part was as I walked past her she laughed in her sleep probably thinking to herself, "I'm so clever hiding under my blanket." I love my Adalyn!

Cedar Creek Grist Mill

We had a beautiful Saturday this past week so we decided to head to Cedar Creek Grist Mill. The Mill is about a half hour north of our house and it was a beautiful fall drive. We have mostly evergreens where we live so it was so nice to see some beautiful fall colors on huge maple trees.

The Mill was built in 1876 and it is a water powered mill which is really cool; you could watch the water go in, see it go down the pipe to the turban, and then see all the belts and pulleys that make the grinder work. The Mill was restored in 1980-1989 and is now a working museum.

We really enjoyed touring the mill and having a fun family outing.

Gordon was really enjoying taking pictures.

The amazing covered bridge.

The view of the water coming into the mill.

Ok, so I added this picture so you could see the cool people who worked there. The guy in the red hat totally reminded me of my Uncle Robert.

The girls are standing right in front of it, but this is where you can watch the water go into the pipe where the turbine is; it was cool.
